서교예술실험센터 공성장형 예술실험지원 [LINK]에서 진행된 프로젝트 〈Bugs〉는 공포의 순간을 만들어내는 것들에 대한 관심으로부터 시작되었다. 공포의 대상은 기술적, 사회적 배경의 변화와 함께 업데이트되거나 사라지겠지만, 동시에 규칙이나 흐름을 무시하는 대상은 언제나 미약한 공포를 만들어낸다는 점에서 고정적이기도 하다.
일종의 실험이자 베타테스트와 같은 〈Bugs〉는 이러한 생각 속에서 1) 물질과 질량의 법칙을 위반하고 중력을 무시하는 유령과 같은 존재가 출연하는 퍼포먼스의 상황 2) 그러한 상황에 강제로 노출되는 주변부의 무의식적인 참여의 양상과 그에 대한 (가공으로의) 이해와 같은 부분을 초점으로 고안되었다.
전시는 단채널 비디오 〈Re:na〉를 빛을 반사하고 투과하는 두개의 장치를 통해서 양면으로 반감한다. 이곳저곳으로 반감되고 반사되는 빛의 찌꺼기들은 스크린이라는 범위 바깥의 면에 부딪힌다.
The project 〈Bugs〉, developed through the [LINK] Public Growth-Type Art Experiment Support Program at Seogyo Art Experiment Center, began from an interest in the mechanisms that generate moments of fear. Although the objects of fear may disappear or be updated alongside shifts in technological and social conditions, entities that disregard rules or established flows nevertheless continue to produce a subtle sense of fear, and in this sense remain constant.
As a form of experiment or beta test, 〈Bugs〉 was conceived around two primary focuses: 1) the situation of a performance involving ghost-like figures that violate the laws of matter and mass while disregarding gravity, and 2) the unconscious modes of participation produced at the periphery by those forcibly exposed to such situations, along with the ways these situations are interpreted as fabrication.
The exhibition refracts the single-channel video Re:na into two sides through a pair of devices that both reflect and transmit light. Residual fragments of light, repeatedly split and reflected throughout the space, collide with surfaces beyond the fixed boundaries of the screen.

Re:na는 인파가 형성하고 있는 고정적인 흐름을 관찰하고 그것에 이탈하는 움직임들과 그러한 흐름을 무시하는 요소들을 퍼포먼스의 상황으로 차용한다. 일종의 미약한 낯섦과 공포를 만들어내는 벌레, 가상의 바이러스, 그리고 공간의 중력과 액정의 안과 밖을 넘나드는 규칙 바깥 유령과 같은 퍼포머의 존재는 화면 내에 포착되는 다양한 주변부와 결합한다.
영상은 함께 설치된 영상사이즈의 블랙미러 스크린 위로 반감되어 비춰지는 프로젝션의 궤적들과 함께, 주변과 예상치 못한 반사의 순간을 따라가며 영상 내부의 공간을 추적한다.
Re:na observes the stable flows formed by crowds and appropriates movements that deviate from them, as well as elements that ignore those flows, as conditions for performance. The presence of insects, fictional viruses, and ghost-like performers existing outside established rules—crossing between the gravity of physical space and the inside and outside of liquid crystal displays—produces faint sensations of unfamiliarity and fear, while merging with the various peripheral elements captured within the frame.
Together with the trajectories of projections refracted onto a black mirror screen installed alongside the work, the video traces the internal space of the image by following unexpected moments of reflection occurring throughout the surrounding environment.
