The camera operator walks with a limp due to an injured leg. The performer moves slowly between a congested road and a crowd pressing in. The impression that time operates in an unusual way emerges intermittently even within the quantified flow and speed of the surroundings—“suddenly, everything becomes quiet,” “it feels as though time has stopped.”
ps-trimming is a short edited performance video in which a limping camera operator tracks a performer walking slowly through traffic congestion and dense crowds. In contrast to the flow of the street, the performer moves in synchronization with the camera operator’s pace, passing through the night. In the edited video, this speed is transformed into the pace of the surrounding crowd on the road, altering the preceding flow. Through the process of adjusting and aligning the different speeds within the frame, the work seeks to uncover new sensations and images. Within a sound environment characterized by a uniform base and a vacuum-like mood, movement and time repeatedly synchronize and fall out of sync.
Cinematography: Park Jiwon, Jeong Dahoon
Performer: Lee Jiyoon, Kim Muyoung
