Jiyoon Lee explores the ‘looped experience’ of video, noting that the videos viewed in the exhibition space are not viewed according to a predetermined running time, but are experienced individually according to the viewer. This perspective leads to an experimentation with the structured experience of time, which is a cross between the operation of media devices and human narrative perception. To this end, the video production borrows the linear division of beginning and end as the narrative basis of the video, while the clips that comprise the video-assemblage are produced as differently completed sequences within the same narrative context, and are repeatedly reassembled through the operation of the device. Through the individual clips sliding on a single timeline, the intention is to create a re-enactment experience that extends sporadically within a linear viewing experience.
